Earth Matters is a well-curated EVS series for grades 1 to 5. It is a well thought out and planned endeavour to change the outlook of young learners towards learning of Science. It enables the learners to understand and apply scientific principles and scientific knowledge to their daily life. The concepts presented in a lucid manner enable them to have a better grasp of the content. They cultivate the ability to predict, hypothesis, analyse and draw conclusions. The series has appropriately graded text with supporting illustrations and images. An inquiry based approach helps the learners move from the concrete to the abstract and find answers. Rational thinking is encouraged and curiosity is built through exploratory activities and experiential learning. Scientific facts and knowledge are integrated with other curricular areas using a project approach. The series is completely aligned with the recommendations of the National Education Policy 2020 and the curricular goals as defined in the National Curriculum Framework 2023. The competencies and skills to be developed are linked to the learning outcomes. The content across the grades is linked to the 17 SDGs laid down by the United Nations.
